What’s the difference between Outbuilders and Lowes storage shed?
There are several differences between Outbuilders and Lowes storage shed. Unlike Home Depot’s Tough Sheds whom have a clear understanding on their website about who actually builds the sheds and where they are delivered from, Lowes’ website is confusing and they don’t want you to find “who” manufacturers the sheds easily. They list popular brands but when you click on their logos, it doesn’t say how they manufacture the sheds or how they are delivered. Digging deeper searching for “wood storage sheds”, we noticed that the shed is “Ready for pickup on 11/08/2017 at Bend Lowe’s”. It seems they are implying that you order it and it will be at the store closest to you in 1 week. If that is the case, then the shed itself is an actual panelized shed kit and you will have to build it yourself.
The community on their website had all kinds of questions. In example, does the window open up? In which a reply was no. The other questions were not answered. In example, Anonymous on 12/03/2015 asked, “Do you provide assembly and how much?” and there has not been a reply since. Another question from Anonymous on 11/04/2015 “can you build this for the customer?” in which there was no reply. Basically, not one reply to any of the lowes shed installation questions and there were 6 of them sitting there for 2 years. This tells us right away that Lowes will not install the shed nor has a team they hire to do it for you. You will need to build the lowes storage shed yourself after picking one of 10 different companies. Not very helpful or supportive.
The prices comparing Lowes shed panelized ‘do it yourself’ kit between Outbuilders is astonishing. In example a classic 8×12 gable cedar kit costs $2,999.98 at Lowes. Our classic Gable pricing is $2,495.00 (price is stated of date of this article and does not reflect future prices changes). Almost $400 in savings AND we build it for you! Granted, cedar costs more so the price may be a little more but still, compared to a kit, we are cheaper and we will do everything for you. So, if you purchase a lowes sheds and have someone build it for you, you may spend way more than having us do it for you. Average cost for a person to build your shed (labor and materials) will be around $800 – $1500 so for a complete and finished 8×12 gable will be $4500 compared to our $2500. Mind is blown!

Do you do any work on the coast?
Unfortunately no. But you can buy a pre-built one and haul it back yourself. Might be the best way to go.
